New year!? Big fucking deal.
I was reading my friend's blog (because I had just eaten some major awesome pizza and my greasy fingers slipped and clicked her link instead), when I saw this:
when we reflect on the past year sometimes its easy to look at the bad and not
see the good, but there is always something that we can smile about... i think
we all hope for a better year, no matter what the previous year was like- that's
human nature- we always hope for something better. even if we have the best,
*like JoE and Kristiben* for example, they have eachother which was wonderful
for the year right, well now they're hoping that TOGETHER they can have even
better, not to say they didn't have enough, but we in general always hope for
more... remember that cute little quote- reach for the moon, even if you miss
you'll land among the stars... so we should always hope for better and more. it
doesn't mean we're not happy with what we have ya know?
Bullshit.
There were plenty of bad things this year. Like my girlfriend's parents. And that prick that stole a thousand bucks from me. But what this post is really about is a little anecdote
that just kinda popped into my head the other night.
I was child, maybe 8 or 9, when I was taken to the happiest place on earth by my parents. Yes, I am talking about Disney World. Or Land. Well it was in Orlando. Whatever, that's totally
not relevant. What is relevant is the sight that beheld me once I entered the Magic Kingdom. I was
mesmerized, standing in front of the Magic Castle in all its magnificent beauty and splendor, when a
Horse and Carriage slowed to stop, slightly to the left of us. Even living in a rural area (not even a Wal-Mart at the time), we still didn't see horses that often, much less a carriage.
So you can imagine our awe as we not only got to see the Magic Castle but
also this particularly old method of transportation that most people only see in movies and books.
Then it happened.
The horse just let it go and when I say let it go, I mean let it flow. He took the BIGGEST piss I've ever seen (to this day), and with that piss, he pissed away all of the magic and beauty
of Disney World for that 8 year old boy and his 5 year old brother.
For that moment at least.
We completely forgot about that horse when I got to eat the biggest turkey leg I've ever seen. That was great. I wonder if they still have those... |
